Girl with a Pearl Earring – the Mona Lisa of the North
There are many famous painters that have existed and they have left a legacy through their art works. There are even painters who never became very famous but their paintings have been very popular until this present age. Johannes Vermeer’s girl with a pearl earring was a popular one and it has dubbed as the Mona Lisa of the North. The painter was not able to create as many paintings to make his name known. All it took was a single painting that made him a popular name. The painting was an image of a girl with her hair wrapped with a turban and with one ear exposed with a dangling pearl earring. The painting is now kept in a gallery in South Holland. The painting was undated that is why there is no clear date when the painting was created. The Girl with a Pearl Earring has gained recognition not only because of the way it was created. The mystery behind the girl’s face was reason enough to make it a popular piece of art.
